THEORETICAL-METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH TO MODELS OF TRANSMISSION OF TRANSGENERATIONAL TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE

Keywords: collective trauma, transgenerational trauma, psychodynamic approach, psychological trauma, family system

Abstract

This article discusses contemporary approaches to defining transgenerational trauma and analyzes theoretical-methodological models of transmitting transgenerational traumatic experiences to subsequent generations. The first studies devoted to the impact of events of the Second World War on future generations began in the late 1960s. The topic was further developed after the 1990s when it was conclusively proven that descendants of people who experienced mass or individual traumatic experiences could feel its consequences today. Understanding the ways of transmitting transgenerational trauma is an important component for implementing new models of psychological support to all who need it, particularly those affected by military actions taking place in Ukraine. The article also emphasizes the importance of further studying this issue and the need to adapt existing models to modern conditions.
