GREECE’S CONFLICTUAL POLITICS: GEOPOLITICAL CHALLENGES AND REGIONAL STABILITY

Abstract
The article presents an in-depth analysis of the international conflicts involving Greece, with a focus on Greek-Turkish relations, the Cyprus issue, and other regional disputes in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans. The authors explore the historical origins of these conflicts and draw attention to the events of the second half of the 20th century that became points of tension escalation, such as the 1974 Cyprus conflict, which remains unresolved to this day. The study also highlights contemporary challenges and dynamics of international politics in the region, which have a significant impact on the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and Southeastern Europe. The authors analyze Greece's role in the struggle for geopolitical influence in the Balkans, as well as its policies on conflict resolution and maintaining regional stability. The article demonstrates how historical and political narratives influence the formation of the state's modern foreign policy, as well as the development of regional and international security. Additionally, it considers potential scenarios for the development of the situation in the region, including opportunities for diplomatic settlement, strengthening alliances, and adapting to new geopolitical realities. Given the complexity and multidimensional nature of conflicts in this region, the study emphasizes the importance of a multilateral approach and active participation of international organizations to achieve long-term stability.
