Journal History
The journal is a print edition that preserves the traditions of theoretical and methodological validity and prudence in the presentation of scientific facts, developed by Odesa National University under the guidance of such well-known scientists as M. M. Lange, S. L. Rubinstein, D. G. Elkin, I. G. Bilyavsky, B. Y. Tsukanov. At Odesa National University, since the late 1960s of the XX century Scientific School “Psychology of Differentiation of Time” was formed, headed by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences (in Psychology), Ushinsky Prize Winner. prof. D. G. Elkin, who led an active scientific, pedagogical work. The sphere of interests of the school is the temporal parameters of the organization of the human psyche and self-organization of organisms. The school has a strong scientific potential: doctoral students and PhD students carry out a wide range of research on a scientific topic initiated by B. Y. Tsukanov "Psychology of time", which have theoretical and practical significance. Contemporary research within the frames of interests of this school on the topic of “Dynamics of personality development in the temporal scan of life” are conducted under the guidance of Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Chair of General Psychology and Psychology of Personality Development Z. Kireieva.
At the end of the 1980s, the second powerful direction was formed at Odesa I. I. Mechnikov State University, the scientific school "Historical Psychology" under the guidance of I. G. Bilyavsky.
According to the directions of scientific activity of the school - theory and methodology of historical and psychological researches, peculiarities of psychological representations of historical eras and cultures, role of personality in the process of cultural formation; theoretical and empirical studies were conducted on the subject of "The historical and cultural determinant of mental activity." Today, the development of this direction continues on the scientific theme "Self-determination of subjects of social contexts", the head - Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Chair of Social and Applied Psychology V. I. Podshyvalkina. Implanting modern scientific and methodological developments in the domestic and foreign psychological science, a new direction of research - "Research of the psychology of human orthogenesis" formed under the guidance of Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Chair of Differential and Special Psychology of Rodina NV. At the Chair of Social Assistance and Practical Psychology on the topic "Social-psychological adaptation and psychological support of persons engaged in special activities" conducts research under the direction of Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Chair Psyadlo E. M.; under the guidance of Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Clinical Psychology V. Prostomolotov researches are conducted within the theme "Emotional stress and psychological help".
The Faculty of Psychology and Social Work of Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University carries out the training of higher education applicants for the specialty Psychology at different levels of specialty - from Bachelor of Arts to Doctor of Philosophy.
The following fact speaks about the high scientific authority of scientific schools: from April 2001 to April 2005, and from February 2008 to February 2010 the Specialized Council D 41.051.07 worked for the defense of Doctoral dissertations and PhD theses in the specialty 19.00.01 - general psychology, history of psychology, and at this time successfully works Specialized Council K 41.051.07 for PhD theses in the specialty 19.00.01 - general psychology, history of psychology.
The Editorial Board of the publication carries out an external and internal review of all articles that come to it. The collection of the editorial board includes leading Ukrainian and foreign experts. The edition cooperates with the most powerful universities in Ukraine and abroad, state authorities and local self-government. Such cooperation involves the placement of information materials, the publication of scientific articles, the holding of round tables on the basis of publication. The journal contains scientific-theoretical and empirical materials on current general theoretical and field-specific psychological issues.
