Research results. It was determined that respondents who are competent in various spheres of life, in particular, in building positive relationships, feel comfortable and in high spirits. These results can be useful when working with persons who are in an uncomfortable state, a state of temporary maladaptation during social destabilization. Conclusions. It has been proven that psychological well-being and mental state are closely related to people in middle adulthood. It was determined that a person's personal parameters, and not the situational state or the current situation, play a big role in the feeling of psychological well-being. A significant relationship between psychological well-being and emotional stability has been established. It is assumed that research into the relationship between anxiety, positive emotional states, and psychological well-being at different age periods and in different life situations will allow us to identify features characteristic of many people who, one way or another, strive to achieve success in life. Prospects are foreseen in the identification of sources of anxiety and positive emotions that change over the course of life, with the accumulation of social experience when the surrounding environment changes.
