EFFECTIVENESS OF POSITIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY IN DEVELOPING POSITIVE SELF-ATTITUDE AND CORRECTION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL DEFENSES OF THE PERSONALITY
Abstract
The article reveals the relevance of the problem of correction of maladaptive psychological defenses and harmonization of personal functioning in the context of modern socio-psychological challenges. The need for scientifically based approaches aimed at revealing the potential of the individual, increasing the level of self-acceptance, developing reflexivity and value integration is emphasized. The purpose of the article is to reveal the content and analyze the results of the implementation of a comprehensive program of psychological support for the development of posi- tive self-attitude and correction of psychological defenses by means of positive psychotherapy. A description and empirical outcomes of the training program, which consists of four blocks and is a developmental psychological and therapeutic system built on the principles of positive psychother- apy, are presented. The program was implemented in a group work format for 24 weeks (13 classes of 6 hours each) among students of the basic course of Positive Psychotherapy of the Terra Bal- ance Center. The training for stabilizing self-esteem and the system of personal attitudes is based on the assumption that the use of methods and techniques of positive psychotherapy contributes to personal growth, strengthening the self-concept, harmonization of its structural components and, accordingly, correction of psychological defenses. The scientific novelty of the program lies in the creation of a holistic correctional and developmental model aimed at the comprehensive harmo- nization of the personality with simultaneous work on self-perception, interpersonal contacts, the value-meaning sphere and professional self-realization. The results obtained indicate a pronounced tendency to reduce the intensity of psychological defenses as the subjects immerse themselves in the method of Positive Psychotherapy, as well as constructive changes in the system of self-atti- tudes. An increase in self-acceptance, positive attitude towards oneself, harmonization of internal experience and an increase in the level of self-regulation were recorded.
