VALIDATION OF THE SUBSTANCE USE RISK PROFILE SCALE’S (SURPS) RUSSIAN LANGUAGE VERSION
Abstract
The aim of article is to provide results of russian language validation of substance risk profile scale. Background: Substance risk use profile scale is a questionnaire, that measures 4 personality traits, that highly associated with addiction development, and could be used as a tool for screening and early intervention to prevent addiction. The aim of article is to provide results of russian language validation of substance risk profile scale. Methods: The validation sample includes 218 individuals, 70 of which had diagnosed substance addiction. Results: Reliability indices of Cronbach’s Alpha and Guttman Lambda 2 have shown good reliability of internal consistency for sub-scales «hopelessness» and «sensation-seeking» and moderate reliability for scales «anxiety sensitivity» and «impulsiveness». Confirmatory factor analyses have shown moderate model fitness before modification, and good fitness after two modifications. Seven items have demonstrated significant difference in results for samples with and without addiction. Conclusion: Russian language version of SURPS shown good reliability and fitness, and can be used as a valid tool to measure psychological risk factor for substance addiction development.
