BRICS COUNTRIES IN THE RUSSIAN-UKRAINIAN WAR: POSITION, THREATS AND CONSEQUENCES
Abstract
The article analyzes the policy, reaction and position of he BRICS countries regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war. The role and importance of the member countries of this association in global processes are emphasized. The article is devoted to the relationship between several world actors, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The problem of balance between the member countries and the principle of non-interference, which takes into account global expectations, protecting individual economic and diplomatic interests, is considered. A comprehensive study of the strategic response of all five BRICS member countries to their respective foreign policies was conducted. Further development is given to the identification of factors influencing the formation of the foreign policy strategy of states regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine. Speaking of ideological position, the BRICS member states interpret themselves as an alternative to the existing world order. It is noted that they seek to challenge the economic and political dominance of traditional countries in the world, advocating a multipolar world system. It was emphasized that the entry of new members into the BRICS, such as Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Ethiopia, will strengthen the role and importance of this association in various international institutions, will be able to strengthen Russia's consolidation in the international arena, its vision of the world order. BRICS countries stand for a multipolar international order, providing flexibility for various centers of power. As the BRICS alliance aims to promote the democratization of global governance and inclusive multipolarity to establish a more harmonious and equitable global order, then divisions within cannot exist. Each member of the BRICS uses the war for its own interests economically and geopolitically, and seeks to protect its regional and global interests. Declaring neutrality or not joining the sanctions, member states are essentially in solidarity with the aggressor. Military cooperation and reluctance to delve into the deep essence of the conflict gives rise to misunderstandings on the cessation of hostilities and poses a threat to Ukraine.
